If we manage multiple WordPress sites or work on WordPress development then we must most probably have a list of essential WordPress plugins that we use on all our sites. It is a time-consuming task for developers or site admin to manually install and activate each of these plugins. Luckily there is an easy way to install all our favorite plugins WordPress in a single go. In this blog, I will cover in detail the step by step process to bulk install WordPress plugins in quite a few simple steps.
Step1: Go to the WPCore website and sign up for a free account.
Step2: Click on the New Collection link and provide a Collection Title and Collection Description. This is just for our understanding and ease of use only. If we do not want our collection to be listed publicly on the WPCore website then mark the option to make the collection private.
Finally, click the Continue button to create our collection.
There is a key displayed on this page. Copy this key to a Notepad file as we require it later to fetch our collection from the WordPress admin dashboard.
Step3: Now we can add some plugins to this collection. For this, click the plus button right to the WordPress.org plugins text. A popup will appear where we can search for plugins from the WordPress directory.
Let me search for the famous Yoast SEO plugin. As we can see, once we start typing a few characters itself the plugin suggestion will appear. Click on the suggestion to add the plugin to our collection.
Similarly, I have added W3 Total Cache, Akismet Anti Spam and iThemes Security plugin to my collection. The free version of this account allows us to manage 2 collections with up to 18 plugins per collection. Also, we cannot add custom plugins using the free account. The pro version priced at $4.17 per month allows up to 200 plugin collections and 100 plugins per collection. We can also add custom plugins to our collection in the pro version. Here for demo purposes, I have added 4 WordPress plugins to my collection.
Step4: Now go to the WordPress dashboard and install the WPCore Plugin Manager plugin.
Step5: After activating the plugin go to the plugin settings page. Here we have the option to add collection key.
Paste the key that we have already copied to the Notepad from the WPCore website and click the Save Collections button. Now the below screen will appear.
Here all the plugins that we have added to the collection are listed.
Step6: Let us now begin the installation by clicking the Begin Installing plugins link. This will take us to a page where we can bulk install plugins.
Select all the plugins using the checkbox and choose the Install option from the dropdown menu. Now click the Apply button.
Now the install process will start.
Step7: Once the installation process completes, click the Return to Required Plugin Installer link at the bottom of this section. On this page select all the plugins using the checkbox and choose Activate option from the dropdown menu. After this, click the Apply button to bulk activate all the 4 plugins.
Thus we have created a collection of 4 WordPress plugins that we can bulk install on any WordPress system in a few simple steps.
Bonus Tip: I have already covered some useful topics for site admins and WordPress developers such as Bulk Delete WordPress Posts, Bulk Delete Comments, Bulk Add WordPress posts, Quick Reset WordPress Installation, etc. These are few activities that developers or site admins usually come across and are time-consuming.
